About FeeLayer
Deposits, product fees, recycling fees, POS fees, COD-style workflows, and reports with clear rules.
Built for transparent merchant-configured fees
FeeLayer helps merchants create clear required product/container fees and deposits, test rule matching, sync checkout execution, and export reports for reconciliation.
What FeeLayer does
- Create rules for bottle deposits, can deposits, recycling fees, product fees, tariff surcharges, POS fees, COD-style fees, and buyer-consent fee workflows.
- Preview rule matches before enabling a fee.
- Sync active product, variant, tag, collection, cart, and market copy rules to Shopify Cart Transform for checkout execution.
- Add a quick FeeLayer tile in Shopify POS for in-store deposits and surcharges.
- Track fee events and fee-health issues by order, rule, channel, country, and fee type.
- Export CSV reports for accounting and audit workflows.
Boundaries before you publish claims
- FeeLayer is for product/container deposits and merchant-configured fees. It is not a partial payment, split payment, deferred payment, installment, or manual balance-collection app.
- COD-style and payment-fee workflows currently rely on buyer consent or cart attributes. FeeLayer does not claim automatic detection of all payment gateways.
- Shipping-method fees are not sold as an implemented feature until a Shopify delivery-customization path is verified.
- Express checkout claims must wait for current Apple Pay, Google Pay, Shop Pay, or accelerated-checkout test evidence.
Permission use
- Products and custom data: match product, variant, tag, and collection fee rules and sync Shopify Function rule maps.
- Orders: record fee events and missed-fee, duplicate-fee, or amount-mismatch health signals.
- Shopify Functions and checkout extensions: apply required fees and collect explicit buyer consent when a workflow needs it.
- Draft orders and POS: support manual order fee lines and in-store POS fee workflows where enabled.
What FeeLayer does not do
FeeLayer is not a payment gateway, tax advisor, legal advisor, or standalone checkout. It relies on Shopify Functions, Shopify POS APIs, and Shopify-hosted billing. Merchants remain responsible for complying with local laws, card-network rules, tax treatment, and buyer disclosures.
